Talent wins games, but team work wins championships.

-Michael Jordan

Caulfield Cup winner Jameka and new Group 1 star Bon Aurum were the highlights of another successful season for the Ciaron Maher Racing team.

The past two seasons have been painted in black type. Dashing mare Azkadellia won the Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes at Randwick during The Championships. This win at the highest level of racing followed Srikandi's two wins at Group 1 level in Queensland, successive triumphs in the Victoria Oaks by Set Square and Jameka and Bashboy's elevation to million dollar status.

Now Bon Aurum, winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield, has risen to Group 1 status.

These landmark victories for owners who have entrusted their horses to Ciaron have seen him rise rapidly through the ranks of Australia's elite trainers. With new and expanded stables at Caulfield, pre-training and agistment facilities at Pakenham, and relaxed, country-style facilities at Warrnambool, Ciaron has covered all bases for preparing winners of every style of racing, from dashing two-year-old sprinters to endurance horses capable of success in the toughest distance events.

The emergence of star sprinter Petits Filous was satisfying for owners and trainer alike, as was the success of a new band of youngsters selected by Ciaron at yearlings sales across Australia and in New Zealand, at which his sharp eye has discovered talent at good prices.

Ciaron, a former jockey, learned his craft working for masters such as Bart Cummings and Colin Hayes. He has since developed his own brand, which covers every facet of the sport, from selection of bloodstock to education of young horses and placing them to suit their capabilities.

Note that even when he has a star performing in a stakes race at Flemington or Randwick, he also has runners at provincial tracks from Warrnambool to Mildura as he delivers victories for owners of horses of all standards, from the moderate to the elite.
