Jameka wins the BMW Stakes at Rosehill in Style!

Mar 27, 2017

Our Caulfield Cup queen Jameka turned the tables on her Australian Cup conqueror Humidor in style at Rosehill on Saturday as she strode clear to win the Group 1 BMW Stakes by 6.5 lengths under Hugh Bowman. With her ears pricked and Hughie keeping her under a tight rein, Jameka joined Lasqueti Spirit on the turn before taking control of the race.

Jameka scored her sixth win from 24 starts and lifted her prizemoney to nearly $5 million. Winner of the VRC Sires Produce Stakes as a two-year-old, the Victoria Oaks at three and this season she has completed the rare Caulfield Cup-The BMW double, only achieved by 2 horses previously in Hayai (1984), Might And Power (1998) and Ethereal (2002).

It looks likely that Jameka's next start will come in the QE II Cup at Sha Tin on April 30, before hopefully jetting off to take on the best Europe has to offer.
